2012 Predictions

The 2012 predictions of the Mayan calendar is well known by almost everyone. Especially since these predictions have been getting massive media coverage. But, what are the predictions exactly that have everyone so worried? Why is it people are rushing out to get prepared for the end of the world in 2012? Stocking up their food storage and making emergency plans for themselves and their families.

The roots of the 2012 predictions fall back to the same conclusion. The world will end in 2012, taking all or most of humanity with it. It is said that a major cataclysmic (or transformative) event will happen around December twenty first through twenty third 2012. Of which will cause the end of the world as we know it. This has been thought because the Mayan calendar simply ends at this date. This time is thought to be the beginning of a new era.

Many people think of it as a divine or spiritual time frame. Where the planet and all of its inhabitants will undergo a physical (or sometimes speculated spiritual) transformation. Otherwise, some people think of this date as the impending apocalypse. It is these speculations that have been in the limelight of television, radio, and even movies. Feeding the fire that much more.

While there may have been 2012 predictions that may be reason for caution. Not everyone is on board with this theory of the world ending in 2012. Many astronomers and natural scientists reject the idea. Instead, they say that these predictions are likening to that of the Y2K bug which caused an uproar in the late 1990's. However, who is right? I suppose we will find out in the year 2012.
